As part of the ongoing push to digitize government services & create better experiences for their citizens, the NSW government is currently developing a digital drivers licence. Service NSW wanted to better understand how citizens would use the new licence, to inform both product & policy development.
Over 5 weeks a series of citizen co-design sessions were ran, combined with a rapid cadence of prototyping and testing. This gave invaluable insight into citizens concerns around data security, control of their information and accessibility.
Through testing we uncovered an opportunity to give people more control over how they disclose their information, allowing people to verify age or address without revealing all details.
The prototyping phase informed the policy sandbox that was piloted in regional NSW to test out the interaction of the digital driver's license between citizens and the police.
